DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS LADIES FOUNDATION “INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR” ALL SET ON NOV. 29
09 November 2004 - An international bazaar, a yearly big bargain sale event being awaited by early pre-Christmas shoppers, will be launched by the Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) on November 29 at the Le Pavilion in Pasay City.
Mrs. Rosie Lovely Romulo, wife of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and DFALF chairperson, said all is ready for the affair, dubbed as International World Bazaar 2004.
“The bazaar is a fund-raising project in support of the DFALF social and welfare programs this year. We are launching the bazaar on the theme, ‘Shop ‘n’ Help Uplift Lives,’ in collaboration with the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in the Philippines,” Mrs. Romulo said.
Over 41 countries represented by the Diplomatic and Consular Corps will bring their chief products to the bazaar to be sold at bargain prices. Local manufacturers will also sell their products at the bazaar.
Mrs. Romulo said the DFALF officers and representatives of the International World Bazaar held a meeting yesterday at the residence of Mrs. Justa Tantoco in Dasmariñas Village to check final preparations for the highly-touted bazaar.
“It’s all systems go. We are expecting a big crowd,” the DFALF chairperson said.
The DFALF, as the social arm of the Department of Foreign Affairs, is holding the bazaar to raise funds for its humanitarian projects this year, which include scholarships for poor but deserving students, medical assistance to the sick, livelihood programs and the construction of classrooms for poor barangays.
The DFALF’s welfare project is the DFA’s humble way of joining the government’s efforts to provide social services to the people, particularly the underprivileged, according to Mrs. Romulo.
She thanked the exhibitors and participants to the DFALF project and generous patrons and civic-spirited individuals and corporations for their pledges of support for the bazaar.
Working actively with Mrs. Romulo are Mrs. Sylvia Farolan, vice chairperson of the International World Bazaar and Mrs. Ruth Morales Prado, DFALF president and Executive Director of the DFA’s Office of American Affairs.
Raffle prizes will be given away during the bazaar. END
