MAGNIFICO BAGS ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL AWARD IN MADRID

22 November 2004 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that multi-awarded film Magnifico bagged the International Jury Award at the recent Film Festival for Children and the Youth held in Madrid from 02 to November 2004.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Iric Arribas received the award on behalf of Violet Films Production at ceremonies held at the Cine Cite, Madrid on 07 November 2004. He thanked the jury and the public for the warm reception fro the film.
The two other winners in the Festival were Beat the Drum (South Africa) which won the Public Jury Award and Homerun (Singapore) which garnered the Children’s Jury Award.

The film Magnifico, which  revolves around the boy Magnifico and his attempts to solve the problems of his family and neighbours, had earlier won two other international awards, the Crystal Bear Award at the Berlin Kinderfilfest and the Grand Prix for Best Film at the Rome Children’s International Film Festival, and had recently won  the Best Full Length Movie at the Third International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Buenos Aires.
