FILIPINOS IN PRAGUE FORM ORGANIZATION TO FACILITATE COORDINATION WITH PHILIPPINE EMBASSY

25 November 2004 – The Philippine Embassy in Prague reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Filipino community in Prague formally organized themselves into the Pamilyang Pilipino in Czech Republic  (PPCR) to facilitate coordination with the Philippine Embassy in addressing the community’s concerns.

Consul General Antonio S. Curameng, who initiated the formation of the organization,  provided the charter members legal expertise, assisting them in preparing their constitution and by-laws, as well as other terms and references.

Ambassador Carmelita R. Salas officiated the induction ceremony of the officers and members of the organization on 07 November 2004 at the Embassy Chancery. “I look forward towards cooperative efforts between the Embassy and the Organization not only to protect and enhance the welfare of the Filipinos in Czech Republic, but also to promote the country’s image as well as to assist in the Philippines’ development efforts.

The officials of the organization are: Ms. Ives Lusung, President, Ms. Teodora Kucharova, Vice-President, Ms. Victoria Esase Noleo, First Secretary, Ms. Rosenda Baguio, Second Secretary, Ms. Glicelyn Clofores Ramiro, Treasurer, Ms. Aileen Obejero Vejmolova, Auditor, Ms. Nellyn Habocova, PRO, Mr. Noubiko Ulanda, Mr, Felix Pascua, and Ms. Mildred Sayurin, advisers.

The organization reaches out not only to Filipino citizens with short, long or permanent residence in Czech Republic but also former citizens, spouses of expatriates and professionals employed in embassies and multinational corporations.

The establishment of the organization is a landmark event as it is the first formal organization established by the members of the Filipino community in Prague since the Embassy opened in 1997. There is a total of 58 Filipinos (not including those who already acquired Czech citizenship and their children) from an initial of 32 Filipinos in 1997. END
