AMBASSADOR ARIZABAL MEETS WITH FAMILY OF SLAIN PAKISTANI TO SEEK FORGIVENESS FOR CONVICTED OFW REYNALDO CORTEZ

August 2005 – Pursuant to instructions of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto
G. Romulo, Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Jorge V. Arizabal (4th from
L, left photo) leads a delegation from the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad
to Pakistan’s Northwestern Frontier Province of Chakdara on 16 June 2005
to meet with the family of the late Mr. Khan Basha Noor and seek forgiveness
for OFW Reynaldo “Fahad” Cortez who was sentenced to death by a Saudi court
for the Pakistani’s death. The members of the Embassy team are (L-R,
left photo) local staff Mr. Hamsah Ali (partly hidden), Consul Maria Agnes
M. Cervantes, Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Mr. Jose Viloria and Ambassador
Arizabal, who were accompanied by a Police Officer of the Northwestern
Frontier area and District Coordination Officer Mr. Syed Mohamad Javed.
