14 August 2005, Kyrgyz - Undersecretary for Special Concerns Rafael Seguis meets  Tajikistan Prime Minister Akil Akilov on 14 August 2005 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan after representing the Philippines at the inauguration of new Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on 14 August 2005.  Undersecretary Seguis said “Tajikistan took the lead in securing the recent approval by the OIC of the observer status of the Russian Federation and, with this development, Prime Minister Akilov assured me that Tajikistan will fully support the Philippine application in the next OIC meeting in Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this year or at the 33rd Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers in mid 2006 in Azerbaijan.”
