16 December 2005 --  President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo addresses the 1,000 members of the Filipino community in Malaysia whom she met Sunday evening (11 December 2005 ) at the Saloma Theater and Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. The President lauded the Filipino community for their unity and great contributions to the promotion of the interests of the Philippines and the Filipinos in Malaysia. She told them their dollar remittances have helped stabilize the Philippine economy and keep the peso stronger. The President was in Kuala Lumpur from 11-14 December 2005 to participate in the 11th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, the First East Asia Summit and other related summits.
