CONVEYS GRATITUDE
TO DONOR ORGANIZATIONS
FOR ASSISTANCE TO TYPHOON VICTIMS
27 January 2004 – Philippine Ambassador to Japan Domingo L. Siazon, Jr. acknowledged with heartfelt gratitude the kind gesture and positive response of Filipino community members to the campaign for humanitarian assistance for the victims of the series of typhoons that hit Luzon in November and December 2004.
“I thank all those who unselfishly donated cash and relief goods for the victims. I am very happy that Task Force Tasukeru, which was created by the Embassy to oversee the solicitation drive, has been very successful in its mission,” Ambassador Siazon said.
Among the major donations from different organizations were one million yen from funds raised by the Embassy and Filipino community groups, one million yen from the Okinawa Prefectural Governor Hon. Keiichi Inamine, one million yen from Koga Bowling Lane owner Seizen Uehara, one thousand dollars from the DFA Ladies Foundation Tokyo Chapter, three hundred thousand yen from the Asia Pacific Ladies Friendship Society, fifty thousand yen from St. Andrew’s Church, forty six thousand yen from Tsukuba Catholic Church, and thirty thousand yen from Fuji Trading.
Individual cash donors include ten thousand yen each from Eise Ida, Toto Hernandez, Gina Shigamizu, Jean Cacho, Joan Tanaka and Sally Iijima. The Embassy also received donations in kind from Mme. Kay Siazon, Nelia Kanakubo, Ken and Olive Kawagushi, Tomio Tamura, Miki Watanabe, Takashi Hashimoto, the Catholic Tokyo Kokusai center, Nostrodamoushuu Douin, Yoshito Ito, Kasuko Okada, St. Marta Shudo Kyokai, Matsudo-shi Tokiwadaira Nakamishi Hisashi, Shimomi Catholic Church, Sei Yezenukai, Maria Shyuudoin Sama, Meguro Kyoukai, Hatsudai Catholic Church, Seisen Yoshi Daigaku, Maria-kai, Yasue Sama, Helen Imaruoka, Hachioji Gakuen Toshi Center, Daughter of St. Paul, Yoshiike Yoko, Teody Custodio, Susana Azuma, Nestor Belardo and Primus Piny and Pinay.
The cash donations were remitted
to the Department of Foreign Affairs, which in turn will be turned over
to the National Disaster Coordinating Council. END
