AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE
ON THE RESULTS  OF THE 6TH CONFERENCE OF THE RP
AMBASSADOR AND CONSULS GENERAL IN THE US

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Honorable Secretary for the privilege he has given the Heads of Posts in the U.S. in terms of enabling us to have an out-of-cycle review of the 2005 programs.

The Consuls General and the Honorary Consuls General have, for the past two days, been assessing our performance vis-à-vis the objectives set, while at the same time exploring new initiatives based on changing circumstances.

This review is being undertaken using as a backdrop an enhanced bilateral relations made possible by the leadership of President Arroyo.  Our relationship with the United States since 2001 has become broad, deep and diverse, and has reached a significant level of maturity.

Our Heads of Post in the U.S. are looking forward to working on these new initiatives and delivering the goals for 2005, with the continued cooperation of the Department and other government agencies.  END
