PRESIDENT ARROYO APPOINTS 19 NEW FOREIGN SERVICE OFFICERS, SECRETARY ROMULO ADMINISTERS OATH OF OFFICE

22 July 2005 – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed 19 new Foreign Service Officers (FSOs), Class IV, who took their Oaths of Office before Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto G. Romulo in simple ceremonies at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

In his remarks following the oath-taking, Secretary Romulo welcomed the new FSOs into the Department of Foreign Affairs, saying that they “bring to the Department a wealth of experience and expertise that can undoubtedly be harnessed in the service of our nationals and our national interests.”

The Secretary further cited the academic and career performances of the new FSOs, and said that he was convinced that they will apply their skills and “harness experience and expertise towards the goal of protecting and upholding our national interests.” (Please refer to the separate press release for the full text of Secretary Romulo’s remarks.)

Secretary Romulo administered the Oaths of Office to the following new Foreign Service Officers, Class IV:

5. Ma. Carmela Teresa A. Cabreira;
6. Aian A. Caringal;

9. Alexander N. Go;
10. Emmanuel Donato K. Guzman;
11. Lorenzo Rhys G. Jungco IV;
12. Susanna L. Mendiola;
13. Edwin Gil. Q. Mendoza;
14. Rea G. Oreta;
15. Maria Cynthia P. Pelayo;
16. Reichel P. Quiñones;
17. John G. Reyes;
18. Bertrand Theodor L. Santos; and
19. Sheila Marie C. Tario.
