March 2005—DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Jose Brillantes
hands over at the DFA today the ashes of Ria Jane M. Tuzara to her mother
Yolanda (center) and grandmother Delia Ochica. Ria was one of the
Filipino victims in Thailand of the Asian tsunami disaster in December
2004. Ria Jane worked as performer at the Sofitel Hotel in Phuket,
Thailand. Looking on are (from L-R) Mr. Jay William Decayco; Mrs.
Rose Lomadilla, mother of Ms. Kathryn Lomadilla who also perished in the
tsunami; Mr. Aquino Sultan, Attaché of the Philippine Embassy in
Bangkok, who hand-carried the urn to Manila; and Ms. Sheila Solas, case
officer with the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs.
Jay William and Kathryn are colleagues of Ria Jane in Phuket. Jay
William fortunately survived the catastrophe. (Mark
