07 March 2005 –The Philippine and Malaysian Delegations, headed by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Jose S. Brillantes and Dato Seri Aseh bin Haji Che Mat, Secretary General of the Malaysian Home Affairs, hold the First Meeting of the RP-Malaysia Working Group on Migrant Workers at the DFA.  In the joint communiqué, the Philippines and Malaysia “agreed to establish a Working Group on Filipino Migrant Workers to discuss all issues pertaining to Filipino workers including their recruitment and employment in Malaysia.  The Working Group agreed to meet at least twice a year or whenever necessary.”  Both sides also “noted that cooperation and continuous communication are pivotal in addressing the concerns of Filipino workers and migrants.” (Benjie Remo)
