10 March 2005, Zamboanga City – Senator Richard Gordon leads the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the liberation of Zamboanga from occupying Japanese forces during the Pacific War. (Above) Senator Gordon salutes at the wreath-laying ceremonies at the Yellow Beach Memorial, which marks the spot where the 41st Division of the US Army under the command of General Jens Dos landed to liberate Zamboanga City on 10 March 1945. The Senator is joined by Military representatives from the World War II allied nations Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, and other civilian hosts. Beside Senator Gordon is Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat.

Lobregat called on all present to be reminded of the heroic deeds of the
