FILIPINA BEAUTY WINS MISS ASEAN 2005

29 March 2005 – The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Filipina beauty queen Ms. Jhezarie Javier won the Ms. ASEAN 2005 pageant held on 19 March 2005 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

Philippine Ambassador to Jakarta Shulan O. Primavera congratulated Ms. Javier, who was also proclaimed Ms. Natural Beauty, for being named the first Miss ASEAN and praised her as she confidently answered the questions from the judges.

There were eight candidates from the ASEAN countries representing Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and the Philippines. Ms. Indonesia Imelda Francisca was first runner up and Ms. Thailand Panisa Chaikanarakkul was second runner up.

The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra was flown to Jakarta for the contest and entertained the audience with its world-class music.  END
