AMBASSADOR BRILLANTES CONGRATULATES FILIPINO-CANADIAN FINALIST IN FILM-MAKING AWARDS
30 November 2005 — Philippine Ambassador to Canada Jose S. Brillantes congratulated a young Filipino-Canadian film-maker for making it to the finals of the Commonwealth Vision Awards 2005, a competition that recognizes excellence in short film-making on a designated theme, which this year is ‘Health and Vitality – The Commonwealth Challenge.’
During a meeting at the Embassy, Ambassador Brillantes hailed young film-maker Gerald Robert E. Betita, whose entry ‘Mirror of Life’ reached the final short-list of twelve (12), from which the four winners will be selected at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Commonwealth Club in London, England, on 01 December 2005.
Mr. Betita, an industrial engineering
graduate of St. Thomas University who is based in Ottawa, was also chosen
as one of the fifteen (15) finalists out of two hundred and fifty (250)
entries during the Commonwealth Vision Awards in 2003, also held in London,
England. He graduated with honors from the Web/Multimedia Specialist Program
of Algonquin College in 2002. END
