PHILEMB SINGAPORE ARRANGES RETURN OF REMAINS OF OFW JANE LAPUEBLA ON SUNDAY
24 September 2005 – Ambassador Belen F. Anota of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the remains of OFW Jane Parañgan Lapuebla will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila at 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, 25 September 2005, aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ 76 in the company of her husband, Crusaldo Lapuebla.
Ambassador Anota said that the Singapore authorities turned over to the Embassy the remains of OFW Jane after the completion of the autopsy observed by Philippine pathologists Dr. Cesar Bisquera of the National Bureau of Investigation and Dr. Raquel Fortun of the Philippine General Hospital, as well as NBI Interpol Executive Director Atty. Claro de Castro.
Joining Crusaldo and Jane on their return to the Philippines are Jane’s aunt-guardian Ms. Sally Parañgan and Ms. Paulina Ulay, Jane’s mother.
The Ambassador added that the Embassy arranged a funeral mass for OFW Jane at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and leaders of the Filipino community in Singapore were invited to attend.
The DFA has likewise coordinated
with the Department of Labor and Employment’s Overseas Workers’ Welfare
Administration (DOLE/OWWA) to assist upon their arrival the family with
the release of the cargo containing the remains so that they may be brought
immediately to Nueva Vizcaya for proper interment. END
