PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN HAVANNA COMMEMORATES DR. RIZAL’S MARTYRDOM WITH A FLORAL OFFERING

January 2006 – The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Havanna,
Cuba offer a floral wreath for Dr. Jose Rizal on 30 December 2005 at the
national hero’s bust at the Parque de la Fraternidad in Old Havana to commemorate
the national hero’s 109th Anniversary of Martyrdom. Shown in the
photo are (L-R) Ms. Asteria D. Aguilloso, Finance Officer/Attaché;
Ms. Ma. Esther Nodarse, staff; Ms. Elsa Alayon, Secretary; Mr. Michel Alvarez,
staff; Mr. Freddy Mesa, staff and Mr. Frisco B. Capunitan, Cultural officer/attaché.
They also offered another wreath at Dr. Rizal’s bust at the Museo de los
Capitanes Generales accompanied by representatives of the Instituto Cubano
de Amistad con los Pueblos. The wreath-laying ceremonies were part of the
Embassy’s simple rites to remember Dr. Rizal’s contribution to Philippine
independence.
