PHILIPPINE CHAIRS 12th ASEAN GOLF TOURNAMENT IN VANCOUVER 

26  July 2006 — Philippine Consul General to Vancouver Minerva Jean A. Falcon reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippines chaired the 12th Annual ASEAN Golf Tournament that was held on 14 July 2006 at the North Golf and Country Club in Surrey, BC. 

Consul General Falcon said one hundred and forty players participated in this year’s tournament that begun with a shot-gun tee-off. During the traditional after-game dinner, a business class roundtrip ticket from the Philippine Airlines, an economy class roundtrip ticket from Cathay Pacific and several golf equipment were raffled off. A silent auction was also held for three airline tickets from Philippine Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Eva Air. 

The Consuls General of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines jointly organize the annual tournament. As in previous years, the proceeds for the golf tournament will be given to a charitable institution to be determined by the ASEAN Golf Tournament. END
