14 June 2006 – Consul General Maria Lourdes V. Ramiro-Lopez of the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka, Japan reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that no Filipinos were injured in the earthquake that hit large areas of Japan at 5:01 a.m. (local time) on 12 June 2006.
Consul General Ramiro-Lopez said that the 6.2 magnitude earthquake was most felt in the prefectures of Hiroshima, Ehime and Oita, all of which fall under the Consulate’s jurisdiction. Seven persons, none of whom were Filipino nationals, were reportedly injured by the quake.
The Consul General assured the Department that the Consulate will continue monitoring the situation in the affected areas and report any new developments. END
