PHILIPPINE
AMBASSADOR TO MADRID SIGNS COOPERATION AGREEMENT
WITH
CONFEDERATION OF BUSINESSMEN OF ANDALUCIA IN SEVILLE

May 2006 – Philippine Ambassador to Madrid Joseph D. Bernardo y Medina
(R ) and Mr. Santiago Herrero Leon of the Confederation de Empresarios
de Andalucia (CEA) or Confederation of Businessmen of Andalucia in Seville
signed on 8 May 2006 a Cooperation Agreement between the Philippine Embassy
in Spain and the CEA that would further expand bilateral trade and investments.
The Cooperation Agreement is intended to increase the level of trade and
investment between Andalucia and the Philippines that will in turn enhance
the overall commercial relations between the Philippines and Spain. Established
in 1979, CEA is an association composed of about 750 business enterprises
ranging from small and medium-size companies to multinational corporations.
In his report, Ambassador Bernado said “the CEA is interested in developing
business projects in the Philippines principally in sectors such as logging,
furniture, gardening, textile, tourism, construction and infrastructure.”
