PHILIPPINES TAKES HOME 2ND PRIZE AT 3RD ASEAN QUIZ in Kuala Lumpur 

21 September 2006, Kuala Lumpur — Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Victoriano M. Lecaros reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippines won the 2nd Prize at the 3rd ASEAN Quiz Regional Level Competition held on 19 September 2006 in Kuala Lumpur. 

Ambassador Lecaros said that Jennifer Rebulton of the Ilocos National High School placed second in the individual competition, winning a cash prize and a trophy. Malaysia placed first and Myanmar third in the quiz competition among high school students of ASEAN member-countries. 

Other members of the victorious Philippine team are Alejandro Jay Ar delos Santos from the Makati Science High School; Jonas Marie Abuton from the Misamis Occidental National High School; and Ms. Lourdes T. Esperas, their head coach. 

“The ASEAN Quiz Competition, which was organized under the auspices of ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information, aims to increase the awareness of ASEAN citizens on the vision and mission of ASEAN as well as the progress achieved by ASEAN member countries in various fields such as the economic, social and political,” Ambassador Lecaros explained.  END
