— Consul General Teresita L.
Mendiola of the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam reported to the
Department of Foreign Affairs that a US$ 12,000 cheque donation and a
container-load of relief items were officially turned over to the Consulate on 5
April 2007 by Guam Lt. Gov. Michael Cruz and key officials of the various
government and private organizations that participated in the ‘Operation
Sharing Hope’ fund-raising and relief operations campaign organized by the
office of Governor Felix Camacho, in coordination with the Consulate, for
victims of Typhoon ‘Reming’ in the Philippines.
The
turnover ceremony, held at the cargo terminal area of the Guam International
Airport, was attended by representatives of the Guam International Airport
Authority and the Ayuda Foundation, which jointly coordinated the relief
operations campaign on behalf of the Government of Guam, and Kyowa Lines
(through the Marianas Steamship Agencies), which offered to provide free use of
its facilities and services to ensure the shipment of the donations to the
Philippines.

the turnover ceremony, Lt. Gov. Cruz presented to Consul Raquel Solano and
Consulate Cultural Officer Silveria Lopez de Leon the cheque, saying that the
monetary and in-kind donations are

Solano acknowledged the donations and expressed appreciation for “the kind and
generous support of the people of the island” for the resource mobilization
project for the victims. She said
