BAYANIHAN ARTS FOUNDATION WINS IN SPAIN ’S WORLD FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL  

18 April 2007 – Philippine Ambassador to Spain Joseph D. Bernardo y Medina reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Bayanihan Arts Foundation won first prize in the World Folk Dance Festival on 14 April 2007 at Palma de Majorca, Spain .  

A total of 55 groups from 34 countries participated in the four-day Dance Festival.  More than 1,600 participants demonstrated their respective culture and tradition through music and dance on stage.  Because of poor weather, the groups could not perform in the streets as often as originally planned.  

The first prize winner received € 5,000 in cash, a diploma and trophy.  END
