Philippine Honorary Consul in Liverpool , UK passes away  

20 April 2007 – Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain Edgardo B. Espiritu reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippine Honorary Consul in Liverpool George Aicock passed away on 7 April 2007 after a lingering illness.  

After a short stint with the Royal Air Force, Mr. Aicock devoted his time to business ventures, during which he became an active member of several trade associations in Liverpool .    

In 1990, he was appointed Philippine Honorary Consul. The following year, he became vice President of the Wirral Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and later in 2000, as its President.  

In 2004, Mr. Aicock was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the community in North West England and his support for the Wirral business community.  Mr. Aicock was the only honorary consul given such an award by the British monarch.  

In early 2005, Mr. Aicock was given a commendation by Ambassador Espiritu for his exemplary services to the Filipino communities in North West , North East, and Yorkshire and The Humber regions of England .  

Mr. Aicock, who is survived by his wife Joy, was 86 years old.  END
