PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN PRETORIA HOSTS ASEAN PRETORIA BOWLING TOURNAMENT 2007  

21 August 2007 – Philippine Ambassador to Pretoria Virgilio A. Reyes reported to the Department that the Embassy hosted the one-day ASEAN Pretoria Bowling Tournament 2007 at the Kolonade Center in Montana on 11 August 2007, with Embassy Finance Officer Joselito Adaya finishing off with the highest score.  

The tournament was open to all members of the ASEAN Missions in Pretoria and their spouses, and was meant to celebrate ASEAN’s 40th Foundation Anniversary and foster fellowship among the members of the Missions in an atmosphere of friendly competition.  

The players, from beginners to near professionals, played three games each, and the top six players who garnered the highest total were declared winners.  One male and one female player who obtained the highest score in any of their three games were also awarded prizes.  

The top six players, with their respective scores, were:  

1.      Joselito Aday of the Philippine Embassy (524);

2.      Zarina Janis of the Malaysian High Commission (476);

3.      Nazry Desa of the Malaysian High Commission (461);

4.      Maznah Laili Osman of the Malaysian High Commission (399);

5.      H.E. U Ohn Thwin, Ambassador of Myanmar (398); and

6.      Yap Kow Joon of the Singapore High Commission (395).  

Mr. Adaya won in the Male category of the Best of Three Games (194) while Ms. Janis of the Malaysian High Commission won in the Female category (182).  

The participants enjoyed a hearty luncheon prepared by the Embassy staff at the conclusion of the tournament.  END
