ISRAEL RECOGNIZES
PHILIPPINES AT THE INAUGURATION OF NATION’S LEADERS PARK

7 December 2007– Israel
opened the Nation’s Leaders Park in Rishon LeZion, Israel (top left photo) ,
last 29 November where the Philippine Flag is prominently displayed in
recognition of the Philippines’ support, along with 32 other countries, for
United Nation Resolution 181 on the partition of Palestine that led to the
establishment of the State of Israel in November 1947. The Philippines was the
only Asian country that supported the Resolution. The four hectare park is a
tribute to Israel’s leaders in celebration of the 60th foundation of the State
of Israel. The Philippine flag is flown in the “Boulevard of Flags” along the
highway leading to the City of Rishon LeZion. The Nations Gate (top right
photo) serves as the entrance to the park where the flags of the 33 countries
are also engraved. The park also features the busts of six Israeli leaders
(bottom photo) namely (L to R) Menachem Begin, Benjamin Zeev Herzl, Yitzhak
Rabin, David Ben Gurion, Haim Weizman, and Zeev Jabotinsky. Knesset Speaker
Dalia Itzik was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the park. Chargé
d’Affaires Asuque represented the Philippines during the opening ceremony that
was attended by the Ambassadors of the 33 nations that were honored by the
