ZAMBOANGA CITY SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE AUTHORITY AND FREEPORT CONDUCTS SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS MISSION TO SOUTH KOREA

21 December 2007 - Philippine Ambassador to Seoul Susan O. Castrence (top picture, second from left) reported to the Department that the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport conducted a successful business mission to Seoul on 10-14 December 2007. The Philippine delegation, led by Chairman and Administrator Georgina Yu (top picture, leftmost; bottom picture, delivering a presentation), met with various Korean investors and held a Business Conference at the Philippine Embassy on 14 December 2007 to discuss the ZamboEcozone’s investment potential as a resource-based industrial zone for manufacturing and processing companies, as a retirement destination and as an education hub. Participants displayed interest in Zamboanga, including one in shipbuilding. In line with this, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Seoul will send a delegation of Korean businessmen to Zamboanga in March 2008, in which some potential investors have already expressed interest in joining.
