8 February 2007 – Philippine Ambassador
to Belgium Cristina G. Ortega reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that
the Embassy hosted a dinner for the leaders of the Council of Filipino
Associations in Belgium (COFAB) on 1 February 2007 at the Bulwagan
ng mga Pangulo of the Philippine Embassy, in line with the Embassy's regular
outreach program to promote closer cooperation with the Filipino community.
At the dinner, Ambassador Ortega discussed
with the leaders the preparatory work being made by the Embassy for the 2007
Philippine Independence Day celebration in June and emphasized her desire to
have healthy working relations with the community to attain success in each
endeavor as one Filipino community.
"I adhere to promoting unity and
cooperation among all Filipinos in
Ambassador Ortega also briefed the COFAB
on the various activities the Philippine Embassy plans for 2007. Aside from the
Independence Day celebration, the Embassy plans to embark on vigorous economic
promotion programs in

sa Diyos Catholic Community, Philippine Folkloric Troupe, Papaya Nueva Ecija,
Pampango Group, Filipino Community in Limburg, Libmanan Group, Philippine-Belgian Women's Club, Cariñosa
Group, Grand llocandia
The Filipino leaders expressed
appreciation for the Ambassador's invitation and assured the Embassy of their
full support to its various activities. END
