CEBU CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HOLDS TRADE AND TOURISM MISSION IN SAN FRANCISCO , CALIFORNIA  

8 February 2007 – Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco , USA reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) held a successful Trade and Tourism Mission to the San Francisco Bay Area on 22 – 28 January 2007.  

The Trade and Tourism Mission was held in partnership with the Daly City-Colma Chamber of Commerce (DCCCC).  

Themed "Dali Na sa Daly City-Colma", the Mission successfully promoted Cebu as a tourist and investment destination for Filipino-Americans, potential balikbayans and other foreign nationals.  

The CCCI delegation led by Center for International Education (CIE) President and CEO Nelia Cruz-Sarcol was comprised of representatives of various business entities based in Cebu, namely Ms. Marylou Tan, Manager for Corporate Community Relations, CIE; Ms. Eleanor Navalta, Ms. Arlene G. Remoroza, Mr. Val L. Domingo and Mr. Art T. Esmeralda Jr., of Cebu Multicultural Learning Institute, Inc.; Ms. Cosette V. Pañares of Tambeca Home and Fashion Accessories, Inc.; Mr. Samson O. Tiu of Stitches and Wear Industries; Mr. Mark Anthony Ynoc of San Remigio Beach Club; Ms. Beverly M. Dayanan of Johndorf Ventures Corp.; Ms. Venus Genson and Ms. Cynthia Ulanday of MOD Magazine; Mr. Resty Vergara of the Manila Standard; Mr. Rodrigo Go Taneda of Cebu Supergrow; Ms. Chacha Rama of Fastem; Ms. Cely Chiu of Premier Beverages; and Ms. Carmel de Pio Salvador of Global Courier Philippines.  

Activities in the Bay Area included a dinner event called "Kapawan sa Konsulado sa Kalifornia," jointly hosted by the Consulate and the DCCCC on 25 January 25 2007. The event symbolized the rekindling of the fire from the homeland to the hearts of Filipinos in the United States .  The CCCI also showcased a mini exhibit of Cebu 's products.  

Aside from meeting with government officials of Daly City and Colma, the CCCI delegation had one-on-one matching sessions with businesses based in the Bay Area and exchanges with potential business contacts facilitated by the DCCCC.  

On 27 January, the group held an exhibit at the Serramonte Shopping Mall in Daly City featuring products and tourist destinations in Cebu .  A number of shoppers at the mall were delighted and interested at the Cebu products on display.  

To end the trade and tourism mission, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by the two chambers on 26 January.  The signing of the MOU marked the beginning of the continued alliance and cooperation between the two chambers with the goal of promoting business growth and economic opportunities.  END
