February 2007 – Philippine Ambassador to Italy Philippe J. Lhuillier reported
to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Embassy commended OFWs who were
recently sworn in as Consiglieri Aggiunti (Supplementary Councilors) of
their respective legislative districts after winning the December 2006 election
for immigrants.
“A
Consigliere, though not yet possessing the power to vote, plays an
important consultative role in the formulation of policies for foreign
residents,” explained Ambassador Lhuillier who presented Certificates of
Commendation to the newly-elected Filipinos.
He
said that Mr. Romulo Sabio Salvador was elected as Consigliere Aggiunto of

elected and sworn in as Consiglieri for the other Municipi were Mr. Joselito
Davadilla Ramirez for Municipio I; Ms. Norma Macalindong for Municipio II; Mr.
Romeo Raymundo Ramos for Municipio IX; Mr. Rachel Gutierrez Dolor for Municipio
XII; Mr. Conrado Mendoza Dolor for Municipio XV; Ms. Pia Eliza Angeles Gonzales
for Municipio XVI; and Mr. Demetrio Ragudo Rafanan for Municipio XX.
In
his speech at a special program and reception held at the Embassy’s Social
Hall, Ambassador Lhuillier challenged the Consiglieri OFWs to rally
behind the Embassy in its effort to serve Filipinos and uplift the living
conditions of OFWs and other foreign nationals in
Consuls Jerome John O. Castro, Emmanuel Elmo R. Fernandez and Kristine Leilani R. Salle and the whole Embassy staff attended the reception to support and appreciate the Consiglieri OFWs. END
