EMBASSY, BELGUIM PREPARES FOR 2007 PHILIPPINE
21 February
2007 – Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Cristina G. Ortega convened the first
meeting of the Organizing Committee on 15 February to commence the preparations
for the 2007 Philippine Independence Day celebration.
As the
Embassy will chair this year’s celebration of the event, an Embassy
officer/staff is assigned to coordinate each committee with the Filipino
community in
Ambassador
Ortega said this will pave the way for the Embassy and the community to closely
work together and show unity to ensure the success of the event. “I welcome
everyone to this meeting and I encourage all of you to participate in the
celebration as one community,” Ambassador Ortega stated.
Starting the
series of committee working groups, the committee discussed the tasks and
responsibilities of the 10 working groups, namely Finance; Tombola and
Solicitation of Prizes; Publicity and Souvenir Program; Physical Arrangements;
Security and Parking; Cultural Program; Games and Prizes; Transportation; Food
and Drinks; and Liturgical.
The 2007
Philippine Independence Day celebration is set on 10 June in
