January 2007 – The Philippine Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden reported to the
Department of Foreign Affairs that effective 1 December 2006, Latvia has
implemented visa regulations for the transit of a third-country national through
that country.
A
third-country national holding a valid visa or residence permit of a
Schengen member state or of a new European Union (EU) member-state or a
residence permit issued in Switzerland or Liechtenstein “may cross in transit
the territory of Latvia without need for a Latvian transit visa, in order to
enter the territory of a Schengen state, a new EU member state, Switzerland or
Liechtenstein or return to his/her country of residence or, if there is such
"a permit, to a third country.”
The
transit through Latvia of a third-country national must not exceed five days.
The Philippine Embassy in Stockholm holds jurisdiction over Latvia. The new regulation is based on the Decisions of the European Parliament and of the Council. END
