AGREEMENTS ON NEW AUTHENTICATION PROCESS SIGNED

20 July 2007—Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo today signed the Memorandum  of Agreement on the Implementation of the New Authentication Procedure between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the  Department  of  Social   Welfare  and   Development   (DSWD), represented by Secretary Esperanza I. Cabral.

The Agreement  with the following agencies were likewise signed of Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) being represented by its Usec for Administration, Hon. Franklin M. Edalin:

The MOA signing ceremony formalizes the agreements between the DFA and the abovementioned government agencies regarding the streamlining of the authentication process as mandated by Executive Order No. 582. With the cooperation of all these agencies, the new procedure has been in place as early as 02 April 2007.

The streamlined procedure has dramatically reduced the processing time documents and the number of steps necessary for the public to complete the process.

With the new procedure, the public only goes to the above issuing government agencies once to file or apply for the issuance of their certificates or other documents. After such filing, they will be issued a claim stub in order for them to be able to claim their authenticated document from the DFA. As such, the entire authentication process is completed in just two (2) steps.

Moreover, with the abolition of the Malacanang Authentication Office, the total fee for authentication has been reduced from Php180.00 to just Php100.00 per document.

The implementation of this new system has resulted in more convenience to the public, less expenses and shorter processing time. END
