June 2007 — Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Petronila P. Garcia reported to the
Department of Foreign Affairs that the office of Philippine Honorary Consul to
Khartoum Tarig El Nefeidi successfully celebrated the 109th
Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence by organizing a
get-together for the Filipino community on the evening of 15 June 2007, at Lupa,

During the event hosted by Ms. Jenny del
Rosario, Filipina office manager of the Consulate, and Filipino community member
Mr. Ram Ramos, Filipino community members read the Independence Day messages of
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Ambassador Garcia. Guests
also enjoyed the performances rendered by members of the Filipino community,
which included traditional dances such as the Subli and Muslim fan dance, and
singing of nationalistic songs such as “Bayan
Ko.” Trophies were also
awarded to the victorious teams in the basketball and volleyball tournaments.
