Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Antonio P. Villamor reported to Foreign
Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo that the Embassy has been providing
assistance to OFW Joven Esteva who was taken into police custody for allegedly
killing his employer on 3 June 2007.
Upon
learning of the case, Ambassador Villamor sent Embassy officials to the Rawdah
Police Station – which has jurisdiction over the case – to speak to police
authorities. The Embassy has since
asked the assistance of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for
OFW
Esteva is currently detained at the Malaz Central Jail in
Ambassador Villamor assured the Secretary that the Embassy will provide all the needed assistance including the provision of the services of a Saudi lawyer for OFW Esteva, and will report to the Department any new development on the case. END
