MUSICAL
EXCELLENCE OF PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS CAPTURES GERMAN,
INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE AT RP
28 June 2007
— Philippine Ambassador to Germany Delia Domingo Albert reported to the
Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippine Madrigal Singers – the
“Madz” – captured the hearts of German and international audiences yet
again in a performance hosted by the Philippine Embassy on 18 June 2007 to
celebrate the 109th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine
Independence.
The
rich diversity of the choir’s repertoire ranged from sacred music, German and
other classic songs, Philippine folk songs, and pop music, and the choir’s
award-winning songs, including “Das Jagdlied” von Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
at the competition in France last year.
Ambassador
Albert welcomed about 500 guests, representing the diplomatic corps, German
government contacts, the business and private sectors, the academe and the
Filipino community. At the end of the concert, Ambassador Albert
introduced the special guests to the audience, other Filipino “stars” in
Berlin such as Ms. Leah de los Santos who is lead female role of the “Beauty
and the Beast” musical in Berlin, and Ms. Angelina Glass, Miss
Germany-Universe 2007, whose father is Filipino.
