PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL, TORONTO CONDUCTS CONSULAR OUTREACH PROGRAM IN WINNIPEG
NEW RP HONORARY CONSUL SWORN IN

23 March 2007 – Consul General Alejandro B. Mosquera of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto , Canada reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Consulate successfully conducted its consular outreach program from 9 to 11 March 2007 at the Philippine-Canadian Center of Manitoba in Winnipeg , Manitoba Province.

The Consular team headed by Consul General Mosquera rendered passport services, issued visas, processed notarials and authentication, and conducted consultations on consular matters.  Oaths to Filipino-Canadian dual citizens were also administered.

About 70,000 Filipino-Canadians in Manitoba continues to grow in number, largely attributable to Manitoba ’s Provincial Nominee Program wherein the province sponsors foreign workers to fill in the province’s manpower requirements.

On 10 March, Consul General Mosquera administered the Oath of Office of the new Philippine Honorary Consul in Winnipeg , Ms. Edda G. Pangilinan, who succeeds Dr. Rolando Guzman.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Manitoba Province Premier Gary Dower, leading members of the Legislative Assembly (Provincial Parliament) including Filipino-Canadian assemblymen Conrad Santos and Chris Aglugob, and leaders of Filipino-Canadian community in Winnipeg.  END
