PHILIPPINES, CZECH REPUBLIC REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO FURTHER EXPAND COOPERATION  

 

 22 November 2007 SINGAPORE – Foreign Affairs Secretary Dr. Alberto G. Romulo and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg renew the Philippines and the Czech Republic’s shared commitment to further expand cooperation, particularly through increased two-way trade and investments.  Meeting at the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Summit here, Secretary Romulo and Minister Schwarzenberg also agreed to explore possible areas of collaboration in alternative energy.  Secretary Romulo likewise underscored the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation between ASEAN and the European Union (EU) to achieve greater security and sustained growth for members of both organizations.  Minister Scharzenberg emphasized that as during its Presidency of the EU in 2009, the Czech Republic looks forward to a deeper engagement with partners in Asia.
