PHILIPPINE BUSINESS DELEGATES ATTEND NORD POOL SEMINAR/WORKSHOP IN OSLO

23 November 2007 - Ambassador Victoria Bataclan joins the Philippine Business Delegates who visited the Philippine Embassy prior to their Nord Pool Seminar/Workshop on Energy and the Spot Market last 19 November at the Nord Pool Conference Center. Seated from left to right are SN Aboitiz Power CEO Emmanuel Rubio, Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) President Lasse Holopainen, Energy Regulatory Commissioner Rauf Tan, the Ambassador, Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) President and CEO Jesus Francisco, and Minister Evelyn D. Nord Pool is the world's only multinational exchange for trading electric power. It was established in 1993 and is owned by the two national grid companies, Statnett SF in Norway (50%) and Affärsverket Svenska Kraftnät in Sweden (50%). The Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) governed by PEMC is its counterpart in the Philippines and is only the second electricity spot market in Southeast Asia.
