AMBASSADOR PUYAT-REYES MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF PORTUGAL

8 November 2007—Philippine Ambassador to Chile Maria Consuelo Puyat-Reyes reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that she had the opportunity to meet the President of Portugal, H.E. Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva, during a conference on economic integration between Latin America and the European Union held at the United Nations CEPAL auditorium in Santiago. At the reception they discussed the benefits and possiblilities of closer economic ties between the Philippines and the European Union. He also recalled having met President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in Lisbon earlier this year and even mentioned her pilgrimage to Fatima. President Silva also clearly expressed his admiration of President Arroyo’s leadership and desire for economic well being of the Philippines.
