ANGLO-FILIPINO TALENT LAUNCHES ALBUM IN UK 08 November 2007 – The Philippine Embassy in London reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Manila-born Mishka Adams, launched her new album “Space” at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club during the opening night of the 10th Annual Candid International Jazz Week on 30-31 October. Ms. Adams is a jazz singer, songwriter, guitarist, and saxophonist. At age 18, Ms. Adams turned heads in the jazz world when she took on a role in the landmark Manila concert organized by the British Council Philippines featuring jazz artist Courtney Pine. By age 23, and a fresh graduate of one of Europe’s leading conservatories, the London-based Guildhall School of Music, she has established herself as a seasoned performer having appeared widely in Europe and the Philippines. “Space” is Ms. Adam’s second album in Candid, the United Kingdom’s premier jazz label. It is set to recapture the imagination of jazz audiences with her sterling singing and compositional talent. Ms. Adams takes a giant step forward in her vocal and song-writing performances that also brings many inspirational original tracks. “God Bless the Child”, her debut album, received critical acclaim, a rare display of a youth’s confidence and maturity. Subsequently. Ms. Adams received the AWIT, a prestigious award winning body, for best performance by a new recording artist. Ms. Adams was a guest performer at the London International Jazz Competition in March 2006 where another Filipino jazz talent Ramon David won the Jazz Vocalist of the Year besting five other finalists including two Americans, two Australians, and a German. Philippine Ambassador to London Edgardo Espiritu cited Mishka Adams as one of the Philippines’ fast rising young jazz talents as her popularity continues to grow in both the Philippine and British circuits.
