PHILIPPINE EMBASSY PARTICIPATES IN THE

2007 ANNUAL CHARITY BAZAAR IN HANOI

29 November 2007 - Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Laura Q. Del Rosario led the Philippine Embassy’s participation in the 2007 Charity Bazaar, an annual event organized by the Hanoi International Women’s Club. The Embassy sold Philippine pearls from Mindanao, abaca handicrafts from Bicol, capiz products, and products of Liwayway Foods Inc. such as C2 green tea drinks and Oishi chips.

 

Tourism brochures were also distributed during the bazaar, and tourism posters adorned the Philippine booth.

 

A number of people flocked the Philippine booth, including the President of the Vietnam Women’s Union who bought a long pearl necklace and later on brought her friends to the booth to buy more pearl jewelries. The wife of a Vice Foreign Minister of Vietnam also bought a necklace and bracelet set.

 

The Embassy donated some of the proceeds from its sale to the charity organizers. The combined proceeds from the bazaar go to community aid projects that help disadvantaged women and children in and around Hanoi.

 

A total of 42 countries participated in the one-day event, and some 4,000 people attended the bazaar.  END
