AWARDING CEREMONIES OF THE 29TH CATHOLIC MASS MEDIA AWARDS

26 October 2007–Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo delivered the Keynote Address during the 29th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held on 25 October at the Marie Eugenie Theater of the Assumption College in San Lorenzo Village in Makati City.

In his address, Secretary Romulo highlighted that freedom of the press entails a great amount of responsibility and discretion.  He noted the immense significance of the mass media and its pervasive influence in the lives of the Filipino people and commended the pivotal role of the CMMA in recognizing the contribution of the media in upholding Filipino values; in inspiring responsibility and integrity in media; and in transforming Philippine society through the responsible use of mass media.

The CMMA, which was established by the Archdiocese of Manila, is held annually in recognition of media products that enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and professional use of mass media techniques. (photo by: Tony Bosa, Jr. DFA-PISU)
