PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE BAND PERFORMS IN KUALA LUMPUR

10 September 2007— Philippine Ambassor to Kuala Lumpur Victoriano M. Lecaros reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur warmly welcomed the officers and members of the Philippine Air Force Band at the Embassy premises last 6 September for a performance honoring the 50^th Anniversary of the Independence (Merdeka) of Malaysia . Comprising three (3) officers, seventy-four (74) enlisted personnel and one (1) civilian employee, the band performed several pieces by Philippine as well as European composers, to the delight of the officers and staff of the Embassy and their family members.  

The Philippine Air Force Band is the Philippine contingent to the Kuala Lumpur International Tattoo 2007 which will be held at the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur from 07 to 09 September, in conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations and Visit Malaysia Year 2007. The three-day event, organized by the Malaysian Armed Forces in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, will showcase 12 military bands from Jordan, Brunei, France, India, the US, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Pakistan, a pipes and drums troupe from Britain and a Maori cultural group from New Zealand.
