23 April 2008 – Philippine Envoy to Kenya Maria Rosario Janolo led a flag-raising ceremony in commemoration of the 22nd Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution in Nairobi on 25 February 2008. A youthful Filipino visitor read the briefer on the historic event.
During the Holy Mass celebrated at the Embassy, Reverend Father James Njoroge, the Assistant Parish Priest of the Salesians Don Bosco Church, stated “Kenya needs a revolution; one similar to the EDSA People Power Revolution in the Philippines.”
The Roman Catholic priest cited the inequalities in Kenyan society, the poor living in poverty and the rich in luxury. Similarly, through a bloodless revolution, Kenyans can follow the lead of the Filipinos in seeking change in government and politics. END. |
