PCG NY CONSULAR OUTREACH IN CONNECTICUT AND RHODE ISLAND

17 April 2008 – In fulfillment of its Consulate-on-Wheels Program, the Philippine Consulate General in New York was in Gales Ferry, Connecticut on the last weekend of March 2008 and in Rhode Island on the first weekend of April 2008

 

On 29 March, the consular team led by Consul General Cecilia Rebong and composed of Consul Millicent Paredes, Emily Blaza, Marilou Barrion, Marianne Olfindo, William Tan, Felix Ybardolaza, Ric Miranda and Lazaro de Luna  was at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, under the auspices of the New England Filipino American, Incorporated.  The team was able to render services to 75 persons, issued 25 passports, 9 Legalization services and processed the dual citizenship applications of 11 principals and 1 dependent.

 

On 05 April, the consular team led by Vice Consul Elena Maningat and composed of Finance Officer Milagros Agustines, Administrative Officer Merle Puruganan, Cristina Escobar, Felix Ybardolaza, Henry Zeta, Chester Tajonera and Lazaro de Luna were in Cranston, Rhode Island under the auspices of the Filipino Community of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA).  They rendered services to 54 persons in total, having issued 31 passports, 13 Legalization services and processed dual citizenship applications of 7 principals and 1 dependent.

 

NY PCG’s Consulate-on-Wheels program targeting outlying areas in the ten (10) states in its jurisdiction where a concentration of Filipinos reside is an annual project which starts at the break of spring and continues well into the fall season, for as long as road conditions allow for safe travel.  The next consular outreach will be on 3 May 2008 in Boston, Massachusetts.  The Consulate looks forward to meeting the members of the Filipino community in the ten states within its jurisdiction.  END
