PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN PRETORIA BRIEFS FILIPINO DOCTORS AS UNDP VOLUNTEERS IN VENDA, NORTHERN PROVINCE

01 February 2008 - Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Virgilio A. Reyes, Jr. reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that he has sent a consular team composed of Consul General Renato Villapando (6th left) and Vice Consul Eric Aquino (5th left) to Venda, Thohoyandou, Northern Province on 26-27 January 2008 to register and brief the new Filipino doctors working as volunteers under UNDP Programme. Venda, which is near the border with Zimbabwe, is six hours drive from Pretoria. Others in photo include Filipino long time businessman Mr & Mrs Rene Pengzon and Filipino doctors; Stefanie L. Guiang, Jason Paul Rayos, Benicio Jonathan Torralba, Rommel Blando Semmalyn B. Sitones, Wedney Rommel Roncal, Rosalinda D. Roncal together with other members of the Filipino community in the area. The Filipino doctors’ services in the different hospitals in province have generated goodwill from the local populace. END
