22 February 2008 - Officials of the Philippine Department of Tourism headed by Undersecretary Phineas Alburo, and Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland H.E. Minerva Jean A. Falcon gave a briefing to the Filipino community leaders residing in Switzerland. In his remarks, Undersecretary Alburo said that as a preview to the MUBA 2009 Exhibition Fair in which the Philippines will be the featured Guest Country, this year’s MUBA allotted a booth for the Philippines.  He also said that MUBA 2009 would give the Philippines an excellent opportunity to promote its travel and tourism programs, food products and cuisine, and provide a market place for home furnishing and consumer products with that unique style of Filipino ingenuity and craftsmanship to the Swiss people and foreign visitors.

Likewise, Ambassador Falcon said that “the Filipino community in Switzerland‘s active involvement and support in preparation for the Philippines participation to the MUBA 2009 Exhibition Fair is an essential factor in encouraging the Swiss people to invest and do business in our country.”

The visiting Philippine delegation, composed of officials from the Department of Tourism, Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation, and members of the Philippine Swiss Business Council, and European Chamber of Commerce, were in Switzerland for the 2008 MUBA Exhibition Fair held on 15 to 24 February 2008 at the Exhibitions Center Basel.  MUBA offers exhibitors and visitors various special presentations and events which will feature numerous individual exhibitions of national consumer goods including home furnishings, health and sports products.  Austria is this year’s featured Guest Country.
