FOUR EMERGING FILIPINO FILMMAKERS AT BERLINALE TALENT CAMPUS

11 February 2008—Charge d’Affaires Leslie J. Baja of the Philippine Embassy in Berlin reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that four young Filipino filmmakers, namely, (1) January Victoria, director; (2) Maria Kathrina Lorenos, director and editor; (3) Ivy Rose Universe Baldoza, director; and (4) Arvin Trinidad, actor, have been chosen to attend the Berlinale Talent Campus, a seminar for talented emerging screenwriters, producers, directors, cinematographers, actors, editors, sound engineers, and composers.

The Berlinale Talent Campus is a creative summit that provides emerging generation of filmmakers with a unique opportunity to improve their skills.  During the 5-day seminar, campus participants have the privilege to listen to the lectures of internationally-renowned set designer Alex McDowell who provided the sets for films like “The Minority Report,” “The Terminal,” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, with an innovative style of mixing classic set design with digital effects. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to participate in a discussion with a panel that will include award-winning filmmaker and video artist Matthias Mueller and the founder and curator of the international “Experimenta” film festival in India, Shai Heredia.

For this year´s Talent Campus program, 350 film talents from 120 countries out of 3,304 applicants were chosen by an international jury to participate in the seminar.  This year´s Campus focus is entitled “Screening Emotions – Cinema´s Finest Asset.” END
