PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MEXICO CONDUCTS SEMINAR ON DOING BUSINESS IN THE PHILIPPINES

11 February 2008 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Antonio M. Lagdameo reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Minister Maria Amelita C. Aquino made a briefing before a group of small- and medium-scale entrepreneurs and business students on 6 February at the Sala de Alta Dirreccion del CCI, Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico as part of the latter’s project “Doing Business with the World 2008.” Resource speakers from Israel, Thailand, Colombia and Poland were also invited to the event.
Minister Aquino’s presentation
covered an introduction on the Philippines, Philippine-Mexican Association and
the Philippine economy focusing on the country’s growth rate from 2005 to 2007,
the rate of inflation and foreign investments for 2007 and major export and
import products. The second part emphasized the country’s comparative advantage
while the third part zeroed in on the commercial relations between Mexico and
the Philippines. Keen interest on the country is
noticeable by the participants’
enthusiasm and desire to establish contacts with companies from various sectors
and the relevant agencies of the government. END
