AMBASSADOR VICTORIA BATACLAN MEETS WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS

IN PREPARATION FOR THE 60th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

OF RP-NORWAY RELATIONS

 

20 February 2008 – Philippine Ambassador to Norway Victoria S. Bataclan, together with officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, met with various Norwegian officials from the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs as well as organizers of the Mela Culture Festival last 11 February at the Embassy premises to promote the 60th anniversary celebration of Philippine-Norway relations and reiterate RP’s participation in both the Mela Festival and Norway’s Cultural Diversity Year.  The Ambassador provided the officials with a listing of prominent Filipino and Filipino-Norwegian artists which they can tap for both events.

Ambassador Bataclan, together with Minister Garcia and Third Secretary de Dios, also met with Oslo City Mayor Fabian Stang at the Oslo Radhus or City Hall last 14 February to invite the latter to grace the Bayanihan Dance Troupe Performance which will officially launch the 60th Anniversary Celebration of RP-Norway Relations on 10 March at the Oslo Konserthus.

The Ambassador outlined the other year-round activities lined up by the Embassy to celebrate the occasion. Mayor Stang expressed particular interest in the idea of decorating the Radhus or lining up the main pedestrian thoroughfare of Oslo – Karl Johan Street – with 60 Philippine-made capiz lanterns or parols.
